Healthy eating for better sleep



Sleep is a natural phenomenon and can be best enhanced with help of the nature and natural ways. Improper diet is one of the major reasons that lead to sleep deprivation and other sleeping problems. Nutrients are fuels for the body. If the fuel is of low quality surely the body won’t function smoothly. Similarly over eating or less eating also hampers the nervous system leading to sleep problems.

Consume good foods

Good foods mainly refer to foods that rich on nutrient content. For a better night sleep it advisable to eat various sleep inducing foods such tuna, halibut, pumpkinartichokes, avocados, almonds, eggs, bok choy, peaches, walnuts, apricots, oats, asparagus, potatoes, buckwheat, and bananas before going to sleep. Similarly drinking a glass of milk will help to sleep better. Milk not only being rich on protein but also contains tryptophan which helps in inducing better and peaceful sleeps. On the other hand don’t over cook the food, this may drain out the essential nutrients in the food.

Eating habits

It has been proved scientifically that less food is processed better. For a better night sleep avoid heavy meals at bedtime. Sleeping directly after meals creates problem for digestion which results to a restless sleep. Indigestion leads gas and acidity problems which significantly hamper sleeps in individuals. On the other hand sleeping hungry also affects the sleep.

Obesity leads to sleep disorders

Obesity affects sleep in a negative way. Being over weight strains the body adding to mental stress, hazardous for the sleep. For preventing obesity one should avoid eating junk foods that are low on nutrients and high on calories. Calories if not burnt convert into fats that can obstruct the nervous system thus affecting sleep.

Eating on proper schedules and at regular intervals helps the body to process the food properly. With a proper digestion and processing system the essential nutrients are absorbed properly. Various researches and studies have proved that healthy eating habits are very crucial to get a better sleep. Since food as mentioned earlier is the fuel for the body both to work and relax, one needs to take care of what he is eating and when. A balanced diet and proper timings of meals help greatly for a peaceful and deep slumber.
