Natural ways to get better sleep



For most people improper sleep is frequent occurring problem. If not taken proper care these regular occurring sleep problems can turn into serious sleep disorders such as insomnia. There are various natural ways with help of which one can get a better sleep.

Avoid Caffeine

Caffeine is a very common habit for many people. Preventing caffeine is very good for inducing a peaceful sleep. Consumption of caffeine can keep a person awake for more than 14 hours. Thus for a better sleep cut on caffeine 4 to 6 hours before going to sleep.

Avoid Alcohol

Avoid alcohol before sleep. Initially it may help one to sleep but at the same time alcohol causes disturbances leading to a restless sleep.

Relax before bedtime

Stress is one of the major factors that hamper sleep. One should try to develop some kind of pre –sleep ritual to break all the day’s stress and bedtime. Meditating for some time, aromatherapy, light exercising or taking a hot water bath can help to relax better thus get a better and peaceful sleep.

Exercise regularly for a better sleep

Regular exercising greatly helps to sleep better. Exercising in addition helps to bust sleep thus sleep better. Timing and intensity of exercising has varying effects on the sleep. For those who become more energized and alert after exercising it better to exercise in the morning.

Eat right sleep tight

Try eating sleep-inducing foods such tuna, halibut, pumpkinartichokes, avocados, almonds, eggs, bok choy, peaches, walnuts, apricots, oats, asparagus, potatoes, buckwheat, and bananas before going to sleep. It is advisable to have a glass of milk before going to sleep. Milk contains tryptophan which helps in inducing better and peaceful sleeps. Never sleep hungry. However also avoid heavy meals before bedtime.

Restrict nicotine

Similar to caffeine even nicotine can keep one awake for a long time. Nicotine actually puts a stimulant into the bloodstream, which though gives a relaxing feel affects the sleep adversely.

Along with these natural ways try to avoid napping, keep pets away from the bed and keep the bedroom dark and free from all kinds of noises for a better sleep.
